This robust instrument has electron impact and chemical ionization sources coupled with a gas chromatography separation system. Equipped with an autosampler, it is used for rapid, high-throughput mass analyses where high sensitivity and mass accuracy are not important. The GC unit makes the analysis of mixtures (e.g., to follow the progress of a reaction) possible. The instrument is particularly useful for routine analysis of small molecules in the mass range of 50-1000 amu.
